Erik Ramsey
Head - Undergrad Playwriting

Erik Ramsey is head of the BFA Playwriting Program and shares duties with playwright Charles Smith running the MFA Playwriting Program. His plays have been workshopped and produced around the country, and several of his short works have been published by Samuel French and Dramatic Publishing. He is a past winner of the John Cauble Award, which included production at the Kennedy Center in Washington DC, and his play Exploded View was nominated for best new play in the Los Angeles area by the Orange County Weekly in 2001. As a professional dramaturg he has consulted on the development of a number of award winning plays, including Julie Jensen's Dust Eaters, nominated by the American Theatre Critics Association for best new play produced outside New York in 2004. His latest play, Lions Lost in Translation, has been developed, read and workshopped at numerous regional theaters including Cleveland Public Theatre, American Stage, Washington Shakespeare Company, WordBridge Play Lab, and Pittsburgh Irish and Classical Theatre.  His textbook, The Art of Theatre, will be available
