Dr. Jordan Schildcrout
Head - Theater History and Criticism

Dr. Jordan Schildcrout earned his B.A. in Literature from Yale University and his Ph.D. in Theatre from the Graduate Center of the City University of New York, where his dissertation won the Vera Roberts Fellowship and the Monette-Horowitz Award.  He has published scholarly articles and reviews on subjects including Tom Stoppard (Theatre Journal), The Muppet Show (The Journal of Popular Culture), Gay and Lesbian Drama (The Encyclopedia of Modern Drama), and adapting Pirandello (PSA: Journal of the Pirandello Society of America).  He is a member of the American Society for Theatre Research (ASTR) and Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas (LMDA), and he regularly presents new scholarship at conferences of the Association for Theatre in Higher Education (ATHE), where he is currently the Conference Planner for the LGBT Theatre Focus Group.  He has also delivered papers at conferences of the MLA, MATC, Queer Matters (London), QGrad (Los Angeles), and the Colloquium Series of the Center for Lesbian and Gay Studies (New York).  Professor Schildcrout previously taught at Marymount Manhattan College, Eugene Lang College/The New School, College of Staten Island, and Hunter College.  As a dramaturg and literary manager, he has worked for Manhattan Theatre Club, Adobe Theatre Company, Denver Center Theatre Company, Eugene O’Neill Theatre Center, Fox/Searchlight Pictures, TOSOS II, and the Drama Desk-nominated Wash & Fold Theatre Project, which he co-founded. At OU, Jordan is the director of the MA Program in Theater History, and he served as dramaturg on School of Theater
productions of The Time of Your Life and Betty's Summer Vacation. He was born and raised in Youngstown, Ohio.
