Killing El Cid, By Dan Shea (MFA 2000)
Directed By: Vincent J. Cardinal
Performances: May 16-19 & 23-26, 2001

Killing El Cid was the comic hit of the 1999 Seabury Quinn Jr. Playwright's Festival. In our continuing commitment to new plays, it will premiere, in full production, under the direction of School Director Vincent J. Cardinal. This comic gem tells the story of 63-year-old Jessica who is facing retirement and her fantasy lover who has de-evolved from Spanish literary hero to a Game-Boy playing couch potato. As Jessica ventures into the world to find a place to focus her passions, she discovers a passion for life beyond literature. The problem, of course, is how one kills a fantasy when he's grown fond of your sticky buns.
