Performances: February 28-March 3 & March 7-10, 2001
Les Trois Dumas Ohio University Professor and world-renowned playwright Charles Smith weaves the tale of three generations of infamous Frenchmen. It is 1848, midway through Dumas pere's career and before Dumas fil's has begun. Dumas pere, author of The Three Musketeers and The Count of Monte Cristo, anxiously awaits his admission to the French Academy . Dumas fils, repelled by his father's spendthrift and decadent ways, struggles in his strange fever visions with the specter of his grandfather, a man of French-African decnt and a General for Napoleon. These visions feed Dumas fils' fury as he battles both his black heritage and his father's legacy.
