Entry into a specific degree program requires the successful completion of a portfolio review, which usually occurs during the sophomore year. A minor in art is also offered.

DANCE HTC
The tutorial program in Dance offers an individualized course of study for exceptionally talented and motivated students. Working within the daily routine of studio classwork necessary for all dance majors in a professional training program, the tutorial plan aims to provide the outstanding and disciplined student with maximum freedom for independent academic and creative tutorial work. FILM HTC
The tutorial program in Film combines a broad background in the liberal arts with professional study in film offered by faculty of the internationally recognized graduate program in the School of Film. This is a four-year program of study for exceptional students culminating in a thesis leading to the degree of Bachelor of Fine Arts. THEATER HTC
The tutorial program in Theater provides a solid liberal arts education combined with a strong professionally oriented training in theater. The student is expected to learn the foundational information in all areas of theater, to be involved in production and performance, and to specialize in one area. The student may earn either the BA or BFA in theater, with an emphasis in performance (acting), playwriting, directing, or production design and technology. An additional HTC program has been proposed in the area of Art History and a link to more information will be provided once the program has been approved. The anticipated date for this new program will be the Fall of 2007-2008.
ART HISTORY HTC
The Honors Tutorial program in Art History balances a commitment to breadth and rigor with an opportunity for self-disciplined and highly motivated students to explore fundamental and cutting-edge issues creatively. It is a four-year program during which time students are expected to take a tutorial course each term, along with language, collateral studies and upper-division art history courses. Students will have excellent opportunities for intensive study with the art historians in the School of Art.
Additional honors opportunities exist for Fine Arts upperclassmen in art and music.
ART HONORS PROGRAM
The School of Art allows majors who have demonstrated exceptional diligence and ability to receive special honors by conducting an in-depth scholarly and/or creative thesis project under the direction of a faculty member. The program is designed to give students an opportunity to improve their mastery of skills while engaging in a stimulating capstone experience. The thesis project can take the form of either an exhibition of the student's art or substantial research paper in art history or art education. MUSIC PERFORMANCE HONORS INITIATIVE
The music performance honors initiative provides special recognition to graduating students in music education, music therapy, composition, theory, or history who demonstrate outstanding performance accomplishment. Selection for the Performance Honors designation is based upon the graduating student’s level of performance accomplishments. MINORS
If you wish to declare a minor in the College of Fine Arts (art, dance, film, interdisciplinary arts, music or theater), consult with both your major advisor and an advisor within the minor program. To obtain an advisor in the minor program, contact the main office of the specific school.
If you are a major in the College of Fine Arts and wish to pursue a minor offered by another College within the University, consult that College for course requirements and procedures.
DOUBLE MAJORS
Students applying to Ohio University will be admitted into ONE major. Once a student is admitted and attending the university, a second degree can be simultaneously pursued if the student is admitted to and completes all entry requirements for each major.
