Dorothy Bryant is Associate Professor of Music at Ohio University where she teaches early childhood, music technology and research methods and supervises student teachers She also serves as Coordinator of Graduate Studies and Chair of Professional Studies. As coordinator of the Master of Music in Music Education "... at a distance" program, she organizes and facilitates professional development opportunities for active teachers. Prior to her appointment at Ohio University she taught instrumental music in the Alexander Local Schools and served on the faculty at St. Mary's College, Notre Dame, Indiana.  Bryant received a Ph.D. in Music Education from the University of Oklahoma, and Bachelor and Master of Music Education degrees from Ft. Hays State University in Hays, Kansas.   She has presented papers/sessions at the Ohio Music Educator's Association Conference, National MENC Conference, Eastern Regional Division of MENC, Mountain Lake Colloquium, and the Lilly Conference for College Teachers; serves on the OMEA Editorial Board for Contributions to Music Education and serves on the editorial team for the Multimedia Educational Resource for Learning and Online Teaching (MERLOT).  She also chairs the District XVII Junior High Solo and Ensemble Contest and in 2001-02, was on the Planning Committee for the Ohio Music Educators Association Queen City Conference in Cincinnati, Ohio.   She performs, as a trumpet player, with the West Virginia and Ohio Valley Symphonies, concert bands and chamber ensembles.  Current areas of research interest include: teacher education and service learning, technology in music education, and the role of reflection in professional development.
