Q2S: Quarters to Semesters 2012

Ohio University will transition from a quarter-based academic calendar to a semester-based academic calendar in fall 2012. OHIO will divide the academic year into fall, spring and summer terms.

An Ohio University transition student will not experience a delay to his or her anticipated degree completion, so long as each student follows the Transition Degree Completion Plan (TDCP) he or she develops with an advisor and makes acceptable progress toward a degree. OHIO's pledge to students is that transition will not experience delay in anticipated degree completion or increased cost for degree completion as a result of the transition.

Each OHIO student who transitions from quarters to semesters will be expected to meet with an advisor to formulate a Transition Degree Completion Plan. Creating and following that plan will help the student maintain academic progress and progress toward degree completion as outlined in the Quarters to Semesters Transition Pledge to Students.

The conversion is consistent with the University System of Ohio's Strategic Plan for Higher Education. Ohio State University, University of Cincinnati and Wright State University also are planning to convert to a semester-based academic calendar in 2012.
