Director of the School of Dance at Ohio University since 1995, Madeleine Scott holds a degree in theater from Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles and a graduate degree in dance from University of California at Los Angeles where she studied under a Rockefeller scholarship with Jack Cole and Mia Slavenska, among others. She has been a guest artist at universities throughout the United States and Israel and has been the faculties of UCLA, Loyola Marymount University, Ohio State University, and California State University at Long Beach. Ms. Scott danced as a soloist with the Douglas Nielsen and Manuel Alum dance companies in New York City and was a founding member of DANCE/LA, a co-operative repertory company based in Los Angeles. Ms. Scott’s research includes study with Dr. Carol-Lynne Moore and British management consultant Warren Lamb, the creator of Movement Pattern Analysis. Her interest in Movement Pattern Analysis focuses on its contribution t o decision making processes in the academic environment. She has served as of President of the Council of Dance Administrators and currently serves as Secretary to the National Association of Schools of Dance, the accreditation agency for university and professional schools of dance. She joined the Ohio University faculty in 1980 and has received several honors for excellence in teaching. Her teaching areas have included Laban Movement Studies, motif movement notation, technique, choreography, kinesiology and senior seminar. |
