Dr. Zelma Badu-Younge, educated in Canada, holds a B.F.A. in Contemporary Dance and Choreography (Concordia University), a M.F.A. in Dance Ethnology (York University), and a Ph.D. (with honors) in Integrated Studies in Education (McGill University). Her research for both the M.F.A. thesis, "Atsiagbekor: Documentation of an Ewe Dance Form" and the Ph.D. thesis, "Ewe Culture as Expressed in Ghana West Africa Through Adzogbo Dance Ceremony: A Foundation for the Development of Interactive Multimedia Educational Material", took her to West Africa, where she studied the music and dances of Ghana. She has performed with Philadanco, The Forces of Nature Dance Company (New York), and Badu Dance Company, which she founded and directed in Toronto.  Canada has acknowledged her achievements in choreography with  awards and honors.  Dr. Badu-Younge's most recent activities included teaching and performing in Taipei, Seoul, South Kore a, Beijing, China, at the CORD Conference in Montreal, Canada and the International Conference on African Music and Dance at Princeton University in Princeton, NJ.  She teaches African, African Contemporary and Modern techniques repertory, and history.
