What does the small Ohio community of Yellow Springs have in common with Brooklyn? According to Dave Chappelle’s Block Party, the answer is much more than you might think. Michel Gondry (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind) films the famed comedian as he wanders around his hometown rounding up guests for a secret concert in New York. Upon arriving in the City the eclectic group is greeted by a lineup of remarkable performers, including The Fugees, Kanye West, Jill Scott, and The Roots. The elation of the guests and the enthusiasm of Chappelle are infectious and the performances are incredible, resulting in a joyous and exhilarating cinema experience.
“At a time when our country feels divided to the point of cracking, Dave Chappelle's Block Party feels like a salve. It's a defiant act of optimistic patriotism.” Stephanie Zacharek, Salon.com
