New for 2012!

Mission

The School of Art Faculty sees the switch to a semester system as an opportunity to redesign and introduce a more current and efficient program. The result is a new Foundations Program for first year studio students, a new BFA in Studio Art that allows for increased interdisciplinary opportunities, and updated BA in Art History and Studio Art, BFA in Graphic Design, and BFA in Interior Architecture. We believe these changes will:

  • Sustain a cohesive studio engaged community in the School of Art

  • Maintain a studio program and curriculum that reflects the contemporary field of studio art practice.

  • Support a program of national prominence in the training of studio artists

  • Meet the demands and expectations of professionalism as students matriculate

  • Address inter- and multi-disciplinary student interests while maintaining traditional discipline options

Pathway to Graduation

All students enter the School of Art as either a Bachelor of Arts (BA) studio art or art history major, and must complete requirements in studio foundations and art history. Studio Art students may continue with the BA degree, or apply for admission into one of our BFA tracks, at the end of the first year for Interior Architecture, and during the second year for Graphic Design and Studio Art. To graduate from the School of Art, all students must maintain a minimum accumulative GPA of 2.75 and an in-major GPA of 3.0
