First-Year Scholarships for 2012-2013

There are two categories of scholarships for incoming undergraduates, one category administered by the School of Art and the other by Ohio University.

A) Scholarships administered by the School of Art:

All applications are due February 20, 2012 (no exceptions).

All the awards are for incoming first-year students who have already been accepted both at Ohio University and by the School of Art. These talent-based scholarships are awarded on the potential of individual students, determined by the Scholarship and Honors Committee.

1) Fine Arts Talent Awards (FATA)

These scholarships are for ALL incoming students who are residents or non-residents in Ohio. The amount of each is up to $5,000. Renewal of the award after the first year is automatic provided the student registers for 16 credit hours each quarter and maintains a 3.0 accumulative GPA.

2) Fine Arts Talent Trustee Award

This is a four-year renewable award of $6,000 applied to the non-Ohio resident surcharge. To be eligible, students must earn a minimum GPA of 3.0 (4.0 scale), or a minimum ACT composite score of 21, or a combined math and critical reading SAT score of at least 990. Renewal of the award after the first year is automatic provided the student registers for 16 credit hours each quarter and maintains a 3.0 accumulative GPA.

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY THE FOLLOWING GUIDELINES FOR APPLICATION.

All applications must be completed through the online application service at, https://ouschoolofart.slideroom.com/. The fee for each application is $10.00. You may apply to either Studio Arts or Art History, or both.

1) For either scholarship application (FATA or Trustee Talent Award), please download here, complete, and submit the Scholarship Application Form as a PDF.

2) For application in the Studio Arts:

In addition to the Scholarship Application Form, please submit 15 digital images of artistic work with information on each artwork, and include at least 3 drawings done from 3 dimensional objects. Please include a list of all the artworks.

3) For applications in Art History:

In addition to the Scholarship Application Form, please submit one writing sample of three to five pages in length as a PDF.


4) For applications to both Art History and Studio Arts, please submit all materials as described above.

5) You will receive a confirmation message upon submission of the application.

We will not consider incomplete application. Please DO NOT send applications through the mail or deliver in person the application with original artworks; they will NOT be accepted and the original artworks will NOT be returned.

Notification: All applicants are notified by email in early April, 2012. Please do not call or contact us about the status of your application before April 15, 2012.

Decisions made by the Scholarship and Honors Committee at the School of Art on all the scholarship awards are final.

B) Scholarships administered by Ohio University:

These scholarships include Gateway awards and Multicultural awards:
