First Year Scholarship Information for Incoming Freshmen

Fine Arts Talent Awards (FATA)

Application deadline: February 20: received, not postmarked.
This scholarship is administered through the Ohio University School of Art. These talent-based renewable scholarships are awarded to incoming Freshmen who have applied to and have been accepted at OU and the School of Art and who have submitted an application packet to the School of Art according to the guidelines printed below.
3.0 accumulative GPA required for renewal. All materials must be submitted by the February 20 deadline.

Guidelines for Studio Arts

The Fine Arts Talent Application Should Include the Following If You Plan to Major in Studio Arts:

1. FATA Award Form submitted electronically along with your portfolio

2. A digital portfolio of 5-8 images and a cover slide on a CD Rom in PowerPoint

format. The first slide should contain your name, phone number, and email address. The subsequent slides should be labeled with the title, date, and medium. You should include at least 3 drawings done from 3 dimensional objects.

3. A stamped, self-addressed envelope that we will send out upon reciept of your FATA application.

Guidelines for Art History

If you are interested in majoring in Art History, you may also apply for consideration for an Art History based FATA. The application should include the following if you plan to major in Art History:

1. FATA Award Form submitted electronically along with your portfolio

2. One writing sample of 3-5 pages if you plan to major in Art History. The writing sample must be submitted digitally in a Microsoft Word document. Your name, telephone number and email address must be at the top of each page.

3. A stamped, self-addressed envelope that we will send out upon reciept of your FATA application.

 

Troubleshooting

  • You can apply to both, Art History and Studio Arts. Make sure that you indicate this on your application form.
  • For Studio Art applicants: CD images should be in PowerPoint format, no larger than 5MB in size. For instructions on how to shrink your PowerPoint presentation, and to check how large they are, click here
  • Documents should be in Microsoft Word format, for art history applicants
  • Do not send original copies, materials will not be returned.
  • Send your FATA application directly to the School of Art.
  • Send your FATA application by mail, not email
